Alanya is a beach city east of Antalya with one of the largest foreign resident populations on the Turkish coast, much of it from Northern Europe, Russia and Ukraine. Long-stay renters choose the centre near Cleopatra Beach, the Oba district just east of the castle rock, or Mahmutlar further along the coast where newer apartment blocks are cheaper. Gazipaşa airport is 40 km east and Antalya airport about two hours west.
