GET A FEEL FOR THE CITY

Life in Ankara.

Ankara is Türkiye's capital and second city, a government and university town on the Anatolian plateau with a large student and civil-servant population. Kızılay and Kavaklıdere are the busy centre, Çankaya and Gaziosmanpaşa hold embassies and upmarket flats, and Bahçelievler, Çukurambar and Ümitköy to the west are near the METU and Bilkent campuses and the newer office blocks. Two metro lines and the Ankaray light rail cross the city and high-speed trains leave for Istanbul from the main station.
